Onvd.org has made a strong commitment in providing a website accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of skills or technology. We are actively working to improve the accessibility and usability of our website by adhering to many available standards and guidelines. We deeply believe that an accessible website should allow the highest number of users, regardless of their abilities or the method they choose to access the website Onvd.org. We keep on working to ensure that all areas of the site are at the same level of accessibility. Should you have any problem in accessing the website Onvd.org, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Guidelines and Standards
Our website was programmed in accordance with the standards and guidelines designed for accessibility. The site was developed using XHTML and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). All pages on this site are developed on a liquid layout standard, which means that whatever the user's screen resolution is, the site will automatically adjus to this resolution. The layout of the site and the internal layout of each page (images next to the text, text in multiple columns etc.) are obtained without the use of tables, but using only CSS-based layout. Our goal is maintaining the level AA accessibility as well as trying to conform to the AAA guidelines where possible, although admitting that it is not easy to maintain these levels of compliance for all the pages in the site. Through new developments of the site, we are studying the areas that could be improved to the same level of accessibility. We are also contributing in improving the overall experience on the basis of user testing and research. These are some of the features we have implemented and that you may find useful :
The images have alternative descriptive text, in the case where the image can not be displayed. The function is not enabled for images used for artistic purposes only.
The connections have further descriptions visible in every link when the user's mouse is on it, in order to provide additional information on the destination and content of the page.
Since some auxiliary tools such as IBM HomePage Reader and WindowEyes already have the technology to use ALT + [access key], we have decided not to implement access keys in the website Onvd.org. The site has been structured in such a way that users should be able to scroll through it in a logical way going from one content to another just with the keyboard and pressing the Tab key.
Although the website has been designed and coded to be accessible on the most popular browsers, unfortunately outdated browsers could see CSS incorrectly.
The best screen resolution is 1024 x 768 pixels.
