According to the Report Italy 2011, published by Eurispes, between 2009 and 2010 about 10 murders per month occurred in Italian households, in 2009-2010 235 domestic homicides (122 in 2009 and 113 in 2010)were recorded : almost half occurred in the North (52.5% in 2009 and 47.8% in 2010), in the Centre 21.3% in 2009 and 18.6% in 2010 while in the South and in the Islands were 26.2% and 33.6% respectively in 2009 and 2010). Most of the perpetrators were male (85.7% in 2009 and 84.9% in 2010). The ONVD data indicate 48 murders and 36 attempted murders only in Veneto between 2009 and 2011, while in East Lombardy, from 2005 to 2012, 55 homicides and 39 attempted homicides.

It seems therefore a real "epidemic" that affects women (in particular), but also men, children and the elderly. It doesn't matter whether Italian or foreign, whether legal or illegal. The case of illegal foreign people - a minority in the sample, but with a significant percentage when compared to the universe of the population - demands a further development of the study. Thus improving the analytical tools will be helpful to understand all the different motivations and contexts of a multicultural society.
